Before there was any other influence, there was Eve.
God had already given her dominion, abundance, and equality—“Let them have dominion…” (Genesis 1:26). Yet He also saw the intentions of her heart, for “the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). When Eve reached for more than what God commanded, it was not only deception—it was desire.
Because God knew her heart, He spoke judgment: “To the woman He said: ‘I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in pain you shall bring forth children; your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you’” (Genesis 3:16). Adam, too, was cursed with toil, sweat, and death (Genesis 3:17–19). This became known as the Adamic covenant of sin and death, and it spread to all humanity—“For as in Adam all die…” (1 Corinthians 15:22).
But the story didn’t end in Eden. Through Jesus Christ, the curse of Adam is broken.
Romans 5:18–19 declares: “Through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.” And 1 Corinthians 15:22 promises: “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”
In Him, women are restored to their rightful place of strength and spiritual authority, as promised in Acts 2:17—“Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.”
This study takes us back to the beginning—where woman’s struggle with control first began—and points us to the cross, where redemption for every Eve was secured.
